The Food Trends I Ate In Sydney This Year, 2015

Written by Brian (@brhinos), Sydney

Happy 2016 to our readers!  A quick apologies for a lack of posts lately but the last year snuck up on us and we decided to take an unexpected break over Christmas and New years. But starting from this post, we’re Business As Usual and keen to continue to share our food adventures with you.

Since Brandon covered a piece on The Food Trends I Ate In Melbourne This Year, 2015, to keep our Twin Discoveries universe in balance, it was only fitting I did one for Sydney.

What were my favourite food memories of 2015?

There were so many. Reflecting on 2015, I only spent just under half of the year in Sydney and the rest in Melbourne and Beijing. Brandon warned me it would take a while to compile this list and stubbornly, I shrugged it off. Naively, this took hours to compile for a couple of reasons. Firstly, as anyone who has shared a meal with me can testify, I have hundreds of photos of food and secondly, there’s so many amazing places to source delicious food on this planet, it was always going to be an uphill battle. So in the interests of time, here’s a small sample of some of the findings of the food trends I ate this year in Sydney.

A self confessed sweet tooth, it’s no surprise a majority of the trends involved sugar! So that’s where we’ll start and gradually move to savoury territory. Here we go:

Turned out to be a longer post than expected but that’s the story of my life with food. With few holidays planned here and there, the bulk of my time should be in Sydney so looking forward to sharing a solid 12 months of food adventures from this beautiful city.
